The Nigerian military has recorded a major operational success in Borno State, with scores of suspected terrorists reportedly killed and a gun truck destroyed during a precision airstrike under Operation HADIN KAI.

According to security reports, the operation was carried out on June 4 in the Madamari area of Magumeri Local Government Area following credible intelligence and aerial surveillance that detected insurgent activities in the location.

Military sources said an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform identified about 15 suspected terrorists gathered beneath a tree after dismounting from a gun truck. Following confirmation of hostile activity, a strike aircraft was deployed to engage the target.

The airstrike reportedly neutralised all the terrorists at the identified location.

In a follow-up operation, the surveillance platform tracked the terrorists’ gun truck and guided another precision strike, which destroyed the vehicle and killed four additional insurgents.

A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment indicated that surviving terrorists in nearby areas fled in different directions to evade further attacks, highlighting the impact of the operation on insurgent activities in the area.

The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to degrade terrorist networks and restore security across the North-East region.
