Former Galatasaray vice-president, Abdurrahim Albayrak has admitted that replicating the club’s record-breaking signing of Victor Osimhen will be a major challenge, despite the Turkish champions’ ambition to remain competitive at the highest level of European football.
Albayrak remarked while reflecting on the impact of the Nigerian striker, whose permanent move from Napoli in 2025 became the most expensive transfer in Turkish football history.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray after the club activated his €75 million release clause, ending months of speculation that linked him with clubs across Europe and the Saudi Pro League.
According to Albayrak, the striker’s arrival generated global attention and significantly boosted the club both on and off the pitch.
“Osimhen contributed a lot to Galatasaray. Paying €75 million a second or third time is very difficult right now,” he said while discussing the club’s transfer plans and long-term ambitions.
The former club executive acknowledged the financial realities of signing players of Osimhen’s calibre but expressed confidence that Galatasaray would continue to strengthen its squad.
He reiterated that winning the UEFA Champions League remains the ultimate dream of the club’s leadership and supporters.

Despite having several years left on his contract, Osimhen continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal, fueling speculation over a possible move in the future.
