Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s In His Will continues to attract attention within the contemporary gospel music scene more than a year after its release.
Released on September 12, 2025, the 10-track project is Chinwo’s fourth studio album and combines worship, praise and contemporary African gospel sounds across approximately 47 minutes.
The album largely centres on Chinwo’s vocals and Christian message, with Ghanaian gospel minister MOGmusic appearing on “None Like You Lord.”
Faith, surrender, gratitude, divine protection and dependence on God form the central themes of the project.
The album opens with “You Are My God” before moving into “All Powerful and Sovereign” and “None Like You Lord,” establishing its emphasis on trust in God and submission to divine purpose.
“I Depend on You” and “When You Say A Thing” continue the theme of reliance on God, giving the project a strong focus on worship and personal reflection.
Chinwo also incorporates more celebratory elements into the album.
“Onyeoma (Good God)” presents an expression of gratitude and praise, while “We Move” focuses on perseverance and moving forward in faith.
“My Lover (Live)” introduces a communal worship atmosphere, contrasting with the more intimate presentation of some of the studio recordings.
The album’s title, In His Will, provides the thematic framework connecting the songs.
Throughout the project, Chinwo repeatedly explores God’s sovereignty, goodness and protection alongside the believer’s dependence on divine guidance.
The project also reflects elements of personal testimony, with Chinwo presenting messages of faith, gratitude and reflection through a combination of Afro-gospel rhythms and contemporary worship arrangements.
Its relatively compact 10-track structure allows the singer to move between reflective worship, testimony and celebratory praise while maintaining the central message of surrender to God’s will.
Tracks including “You Are My God,” “You No Let Them,” “We Move,” “Onyeoma (Good God)” and “I Depend on You” represent different expressions of that central theme.
In His Will also reflects the continuing evolution of Nigerian contemporary gospel music, where traditional Christian worship themes increasingly intersect with modern African production and a wider range of musical influences.
