Scotland international midfielder Scott McTominay is set to undergo a minor heart procedure after Napoli confirmed the discovery of a “mild benign arrhythmia”.
The Serie A club announced that McTominay will undergo a corrective procedure using pulsed-field ablation (PFA) in the coming days as part of his treatment. Napoli said the midfielder is expected to return to action after the upcoming international break.
McTominay, who joined Napoli after leaving Manchester United, has been a key figure for the Italian side since his arrival. The 29-year-old midfielder recently featured in Napoli’s league campaign but was substituted during the club’s match against Como.
The procedure is expected to keep the Scotland international out of football for a short period as he completes his recovery. Reports indicate he could miss several upcoming fixtures before returning after the international break.
Napoli did not describe the condition as a serious health issue, but confirmed that the corrective treatment was required following medical assessments.
