Premier League and English Football League clubs are making final moves on transfer deadline day as teams look to complete signings before the window closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday.
Crystal Palace have emerged as contenders to sign Lyon winger Malick Fofana after making a late attempt to hijack Sunderland’s proposed deal for the player. Fofana had reportedly agreed terms on a move to Sunderland in a deal worth around €35 million, but Palace’s offer has opened the possibility of a change in destination.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing a move for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on an initial loan deal with an option to buy. The Ukraine international has been cleared to return to football after a suspension period and is expected to undergo a new phase of his career away from Stamford Bridge.

Everton are also working on a deal to sign former Arsenal defender and midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon. The proposed transfer is valued at around £5 million after the club’s move for Fulham defender Kenny Tete stalled due to replacement issues.
Aston Villa have completed the signing of defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton in a deal worth up to £29 million, including potential add-ons. The England international joins Villa after making more than 100 appearances for Southampton.
Chelsea defender Honest Ahanor is set to join Crystal Palace on loan before officially moving to Stamford Bridge in 2027. Chelsea agreed a deal worth up to £40 million for the 18-year-old Italy international, but Premier League loan regulations require him to spend the season away from the club before joining permanently.
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is expected to join Valencia on a season-long loan deal. The Spanish club are discussing wage arrangements with Liverpool, and the agreement is not expected to include an option or obligation to buy.
Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka is also set to leave on loan, with Celtic preparing to complete a season-long move for the 18-year-old forward. Mheuka recently extended his Chelsea contract until 2033 before agreeing the temporary switch.

Elsewhere, Manchester City are in talks over a possible move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez and are closing in on a deal for Iliman Ndiaye, while Juventus have agreed to sign Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade on loan.
Barcelona have completed the signing of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, adding to a busy final day of activity across Europe’s major leagues.
Transfer deadlines across Europe are also approaching, with clubs in Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 facing their respective closing times on Tuesday, while La Liga’s window remains open until later in the day.
Clubs can still complete deals after the deadline if they submit the required deal sheets before the specified cut-off time.
