Two men have been sentenced to prison in France over the violent 2023 burglary of Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his then-fiancée, Alessia Elefante, at their Paris home.
Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, described as the mastermind of the robbery, was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined €80,000 by the Paris Criminal Court.
Another defendant, Moktar D., received a five-year sentence, with two years suspended subject to probation. A third man, Khyan M., was acquitted after prosecutors accused him of helping orchestrate the robbery from prison.
The attack occurred in July 2023 while Donnarumma was playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Four masked men reportedly broke into the couple’s luxury apartment in central Paris through the rooftops and held them at knifepoint.
Donnarumma was beaten during the robbery, while Elefante was restrained with a cable. She later suffered a miscarriage, which was attributed to the trauma of the incident.
The gang reportedly escaped with cash, jewellery, watches and luxury bags worth nearly €1 million.
Prosecutors described the robbery as part of a wider pattern of violent crimes targeting wealthy residents and celebrities in Paris.
Kherbouch and another alleged mastermind denied involvement, while Moktar D. admitted being present but claimed he only acted as a lookout.
Donnarumma, now 27, joined Manchester City in 2025 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
