Enyimba assistant coach Okechukwu Ejeh says the People’s Elephant are determined to end their difficult start to the Nigeria Premier Football League season when they face Kano Pillars on Sunday.
The nine-time NPFL champions will confront the Sai Masu Gida at the Sani Abacha Stadium in their Matchday Six encounter, with Enyimba seeking their first points of the campaign.
Enyimba have lost all four matches played so far this season and have an outstanding fixture yet to be decided.
The poor start has left the former champions at the bottom of the league table, increasing the importance of Sunday’s encounter as they attempt to revive their campaign.
Ejeh, however, expressed confidence that his players were prepared to produce a positive result in Kano.
“We are not here for a tea party; we are here for serious business. We are here to get the three points,” Ejeh told the club’s media.
“We are mentally ready, physically ready and tactically ready for this game. Believe me, we are optimistic that we are not leaving this ancient city empty-handed.”
Despite Enyimba’s early-season struggles, Ejeh maintained that the club had not abandoned its ambition of securing qualification for continental football.
“Our vision remains to be on the continent. We are not too worried about our position for now. We will get the continental ticket,” he said.
Sunday’s encounter provides Enyimba with another opportunity to halt their losing run and begin their push away from the bottom of the NPFL standings.
