Gunmen have abducted the younger sister of former Minister of Power and Oyo State APC governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The victims were identified as Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

According to information made available on Wednesday, the abduction occurred at about 7:30 a.m. while Mrs John-Paul was taking her children to school. The armed assailants reportedly intercepted the family and forcefully took them away to an unknown destination.

The incident was confirmed by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, who disclosed that the matter had been reported to security agencies.

In a statement, Awogboro described the incident as unfortunate and appealed for public support and prayers for the safe return of the victims.

He noted that Mrs John-Paul, 43, is the youngest of five children of the Adelabu family. Until her voluntary retirement last year, she worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and later with First Bank Pension Custodian. She had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children while making plans to join her husband in the United States.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims remained unknown.

Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Oyo State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, could not be reached.
