The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised the newly completed television studio at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) headquarters and the ongoing renovation of the National Press Centre, describing the projects as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to modernise Nigeria’s public information infrastructure.
Speaking after inspecting the facilities in Abuja, Idris said the new NTA studio ranks among the best broadcast facilities in Africa and reflects President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening public broadcasting.
He added that similar investments are being made across the NTA, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON) and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The minister said the reforms extend beyond infrastructure to improved content, professionalism, innovation and staff development, while the procurement of modern broadcast equipment nationwide and the relaunch of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) programme would further enhance public service broadcasting.
During his visit to the National Press Centre, Idris expressed satisfaction with the ongoing renovation, saying the facility would become a modern media hub equipped with world-class facilities and high-speed internet to support journalists.
He urged contractors to complete the project on schedule and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening public communication and repositioning Nigeria’s information sector to international standards.
