The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, Adeyemi Adeniyi, before its committee on Wednesday.
The directive comes as lawmakers investigate allegations that the council, despite not being legally established, secured office space at the Federal Secretariat and received a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 budget.
Representing the Inspector-General of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi told the committee that Adeniyi had been arrested, arraigned and charged in court over allegations of conspiracy and fraud.
Investigators further alleged that Adeniyi falsely presented himself as the Director-General of two presidential councils and used forged documents to obtain government approvals.
The committee said signatures on some of the documents did not match authentic State House records and that about 29 suspected forged documents linked to several government institutions had been identified.
Lawmakers said the investigation would continue, adding that appropriate action would be taken against anyone found culpable.
