Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that he will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Makinde spoke on Monday in Ibadan while receiving members of the All Progressives Congress who defected to the APM from different parts of Oyo State.
The governor said the movement of APC members into the APM demonstrated growing support for his party.
“God has signed off on what we are doing, and that is why it is raining,” Makinde said.
“Today, we are welcoming thousands of APC members into the Allied Peoples’ Movement, and this shows that our victory is only a matter of time. We will win massively in all elections in 2027.”
Makinde also turned his attention to the governorship contest in Oyo State, urging APC candidate Senator Sharafadeen Alli to focus on campaigning against the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, rather than criticising his administration.
He maintained that Alli should concentrate on his campaign ahead of the election.
The gathering in Ibadan served as a reception for the APC members who joined the APM from different parts of the state.
