Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration at the Lagos State Police Command, DCP Khan Salihu, has died.

Salihu reportedly passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, shortly after leaving his office at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

According to reports, the senior police officer had returned from prayers at a mosque and later complained of feeling unwell and fatigued. He subsequently requested permission to leave work and rest at home.

Sources said that upon arriving home, his condition worsened, and he was being rushed to a hospital when he passed away.

“The Lagos State Police Command deeply regrets to announce the passing of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Khan Salihu, who until his demise was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Lagos State Police Command. He passed away on Monday, 15th June, 2026,” the statement read.

The Command described the late officer as a highly dedicated, disciplined, and committed senior police officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with professionalism, loyalty, and integrity throughout his career.

According to the statement, DCP Salihu distinguished himself through exemplary leadership, administrative competence, and unwavering dedication to duty, contributing significantly to the operational efficiency and management of the Lagos State Police Command.

The Command noted that news of his death came as a profound shock to officers and men of the Force.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, on behalf of officers and personnel of the Command, extended condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues.

“DCP Khan Salihu will be fondly remembered for his dedication, humility, professionalism, and selfless service to the nation and the Nigeria Police Force. His legacy of service and commitment will continue to inspire officers and men of the Command,” the statement added.

Before his appointment in Lagos, DCP Salihu served as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah, between 2003 and 2007, earning a reputation for professionalism and discipline during his service.

His death has been described by colleagues and associates as a significant loss to the Nigeria Police Force and the wider security community.
