In a landmark move set to redefine the global football experience, FIFA has confirmed plans to stage a Super Bowl-style halftime show during the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The historic entertainment segment marking the first of its kind in World Cup history will feature multiple high-profile artistes in a coordinated performance designed to elevate the spectacle of football’s biggest match.

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino said the initiative aims to deliver a “fantastic” show that blends sport and global entertainment, drawing inspiration from the widely celebrated halftime productions seen at the Super Bowl.

The performance is being curated with creative input from British band Coldplay and its management team, signalling an ambitious, multi-artiste lineup.

While FIFA has yet to unveil the full roster of performers, there is growing anticipation that Nigerian artistes could feature prominently. The global rise of Afrobeats has positioned Nigerian music at the forefront of international pop culture, making their inclusion a strong move as organizers seek worldwide appeal.

The 2026 World Cup final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. For the duration of the tournament, the venue will be rebranded as New York New Jersey Stadium, in line with FIFA’s naming conventions.
