Business leader and investor Tony Elumelu has announced that he will succeed Senator Udoma Udo Udoma as Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc in January 2027.
The transition is part of the company’s leadership succession plan as Seplat Energy positions itself for its next phase of growth and expansion.
Elumelu expressed confidence in Seplat Energy’s governance structure and execution culture, describing the company’s approach as one that aligns closely with his values and vision for sustainable business growth.

He reaffirmed the critical role of indigenous energy companies in harnessing Africa’s resources to drive economic development, job creation and long-term prosperity across the continent.
The incoming chairman commended Senator Udoma Udo Udoma for his leadership and contributions to the growth of Seplat Energy during his tenure. He also acknowledged the efforts of outgoing Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown for his stewardship of the company.
Elumelu further congratulated Effiong Okon on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, expressing confidence that his extensive experience in the oil and gas industry would help position the company for continued growth and operational excellence.

According to Elumelu, Seplat Energy remains well placed to capitalise on emerging opportunities in Nigeria’s energy sector while advancing its strategic objectives in gas development, power generation and energy transition initiatives.
The leadership transition is expected to take effect in January 2027, when Elumelu formally assumes the role of Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc.
