The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting internal divisions within the party, maintaining that members remain united and committed to securing victory in the 2027 general elections.

State Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, gave the assurance on Sunday in Abakaliki after several aspirants obtained their expression of interest and nomination forms at the party secretariat located along Water Works Road.

Emegha stated that recent disagreements among party members had not affected the cohesion of the APC, describing the situation as the actions of a few overenthusiastic individuals.

“From time to time, some persons may act out of excessive enthusiasm, but that does not threaten the unity of our party. We remain a united family,” he said.

The chairman explained that the adoption of consensus candidates followed wide consultations across the ward, local government, and state levels, stressing that the arrangement was designed to strengthen harmony within the party.

According to him, the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru ensured that all interests were adequately considered before the party arrived at a common position ahead of the elections.

Emegha further noted that all candidates of the APC would receive collective backing from party members, adding that victory at the polls would be a shared responsibility.

“No candidate is standing alone. Every ticket belongs to the party, and we will work together to ensure success in the elections,” he added.

He expressed optimism that the achievements of the current administration in governance and infrastructure development would improve the party’s chances in the 2027 polls.

Some aspirants who endorsed the consensus arrangement also described it as a strategic move aimed at minimising internal conflicts and promoting party unity.

Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate representing Ebonyi North, Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, said the consensus model was consistent with democratic principles and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He noted that the approach would help the party save time and resources while maintaining internal stability.

Other aspirants, including Anthony Ani, Chinedu Ogah, and Joseph Nwobashi, who are seeking various legislative positions, also expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects ahead of the elections.

They called on party supporters and members to remain united as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections, pledging continued commitment to the growth and success of the party in the state.
