A broadcast journalist and President-General of Bush House, Akparawa Michael Bush, has officially obtained the Labour Party (LP) governorship expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.
Bush secured the forms after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party, as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum across the state.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Bush formally declared his intention to contest the governorship election, stating that his decision was driven by a desire to reposition Akwa Ibom State and ensure that the state’s resources directly benefit the people.
He described the forthcoming political journey as a defining moment for Akwa Ibom, expressing confidence that, with the support of the people and divine guidance, the state could be “retrieved and returned to its people.”
Akparawa Bush also assured residents that, if elected, his administration would prioritise inclusive governance and provide citizens with greater access to government and leadership.
Reacting to his desire to purchase the form, the leader of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Uduak Udoh, expressed excitement over Bush’s decision to join the party and contest the governorship election.
Dr Udoh noted that Bush’s vast experience in governance, media, and public affairs would position him to make impactful and decisive contributions to the development of the state, adding that his political ideals align with those of the Labour Party.
“The Labour Party represents everyone mama, papa, and pikin. The average Akwa Ibom person is hungry, and with Bush in the Labour Party, we are determined to fight hunger and provide lasting infrastructure across the state,” he said.

Also speaking, the state chairman of the Labour Party, Freena Akpanusong, expressed optimism over Bush’s candidacy and assured him of the party’s readiness to work towards victory in the 2027 governorship election.
