Senator Sarafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Oyo State, defeating former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and other contenders.

Results of the primary showed that Alli secured 578,143 votes to emerge victorious, while Adelabu polled 19,193 votes.

Adelabu had stepped down from his position as Minister of Power to pursue the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the state election.

However, the former minister raised concerns over the conduct of the exercise, alleging irregularities and manipulation during the voting process.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote at his ward on Thursday, Adelabu claimed that reports from various locations indicated widespread electoral infractions.

“I must sound this note of warning that it is not this way in a lot of other wards,” he said.

“Reports reaching me state that there is a lot of gross misconduct in the other wards, ranging from various forms of infractions.

“In some wards, they conducted the election hours before the appointed time and wrote the figures they liked.”

Despite the allegations, Alli was declared the winner of the exercise and will fly the APC flag in the Oyo State governorship election.
