The African Democratic Congress has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has completed payment for the party’s presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 general election.
The confirmation was contained in an official statement released by the party on Saturday through its X account, accompanied by a payment receipt acknowledging the transaction.
According to the receipt, identified as Official Receipt No. 2881, Atiku paid ₦90 million through a bank draft for the presidential nomination form. The document was dated May 8, 2026.
In its statement, the ADC said the development marked another step in what it described as a growing political movement within the party as preparations gradually intensify for the next presidential election.
“H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election,” the party stated.
The ADC also framed the move as part of a broader push for political realignment and democratic participation, positioning itself as a viable alternative within Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
According to the party, its platform remains focused on issues including national unity, economic recovery, security, and governance reform as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
The party disclosed that the formal presentation of the nomination forms is scheduled to take place on Monday at its national secretariat in Abuja.
While further details regarding coalition discussions and internal party arrangements have yet to be announced, the confirmation of Atiku’s payment is seen as one of the earliest major developments in the emerging 2027 presidential contest.
The party declared that “the movement is growing” as attention increasingly shifts toward future electoral alignments and opposition strategies.
