A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Sola Ajimati, has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to initiate a reconciliation process within the party to address growing concerns over internal divisions and unresolved disputes.

Ajimati, a former APC senatorial aspirant for Kwara South, appealed in an open letter to the governor on Monday, warning that the ruling party must take deliberate steps to strengthen unity and inclusiveness as it prepares for future electoral contests.

According to him, recent political developments within the state chapter of the APC have heightened concerns among some stakeholders who feel excluded from key decision-making processes.

While commending the governor for developmental strides recorded under his administration, Ajimati stressed that sustaining such achievements would require broader consultations and stronger engagement with party members across all levels.

“As the party prepares for future elections, there is increasing concern among stakeholders regarding perceived exclusion from critical decision-making processes,” he stated. “Building on the successes achieved so far will require deeper unity, wider inclusion, and deliberate consultation with all stakeholders.”

Ajimati referenced the recent re-election of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, describing it as an example of how consultation and consensus-building can strengthen political success. He contrasted this with the experience in neighbouring Osun State, where internal disagreements within the ruling party were widely linked to electoral challenges.

The APC stalwart also raised concerns over the conduct of the Kwara South Senatorial Primary Election held on May 18, 2026, in which he participated as an aspirant. He alleged that questions remained regarding the collation process and the accuracy of results from the seven local government areas within the district.

According to him, the issues have already been submitted to the appropriate party organs for review and should be resolved through a transparent process to preserve confidence in the party’s internal democratic mechanisms.

Ajimati further urged the governor to convene a stakeholders’ meeting involving governorship and senatorial aspirants, party leaders, youth groups and other key stakeholders to address grievances and promote unity.

He also proposed the establishment of an independent reconciliation and consultation committee tasked with rebuilding trust, resolving disputes and strengthening cohesion within the APC in Kwara State.

Beyond party affairs, Ajimati expressed concern over emerging security challenges in parts of the state, noting that political unity would be essential in addressing such issues effectively.
