The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the appointment of Returning Officers for the forthcoming Senatorial Primary Elections across the state’s three senatorial districts and 31 local government areas.
The announcement was contained in a press release issued on May 18, 2026, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Patrick Edeke, ANIPR.
According to the statement, the appointed officers will oversee and coordinate the conduct of the primary elections in their respective local government areas and senatorial districts in line with the party’s electoral guidelines and procedures.
Among those appointed as Local Government Area Returning Officers are Emmanuel Alphonsus Umoh for Abak, Tom Nkanang for Eastern Obolo, Harrison Harrison for Eket, Ekanem Willie for Esit-Eket, and Edidiong John for Essien Udim.
Others include Tommy Enoidem for Ibeno, Smart Usanga for Ibesikpo-Asutan, Jones Akpan for Ibiono Ibom, Godfrey Enamidem Essien for Ikono, Hon. Ubong Ekefre for Ikot Abasi, Christopher Ntuen for Ikot Ekpene, and Leo Leo Umana for Uyo Local Government Area.

For the senatorial districts, the party named Rt. Hon. KufreAbasi Edidem as Returning Officer for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Ikpisong Frank Archibong for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, and Envoy Nsentip Akpabio for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.
The APC called on aspirants, delegates, stakeholders and party faithful to cooperate with the appointed officers to ensure peaceful, transparent, free and credible primary elections across the state.
“The APC remains committed to internal democracy, unity, and the successful conduct of all party activities in Akwa Ibom State,” the statement read.

The party expressed confidence that the appointed officials would discharge their responsibilities with fairness and integrity to strengthen confidence in the electoral process within the party.
