Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has emerged the winner of the African Democratic Congress presidential primary in Bayelsa State.
According to results released by the party on Tuesday via its official X handle, Amaechi defeated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the state primary election.

The statement indicated that Amaechi secured 44,404 votes to emerge victorious in the exercise.
“Results of the exercise showed that Amaechi secured a total of 44,404 votes to clinch victory in the state’s presidential primary,” the party stated.
Atiku came second with 6,570 votes, while Hayatu-Deen polled 939 votes.
The Bayelsa outcome forms part of the ongoing nationwide ADC presidential primary election, where delegates across states are voting to determine the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Although the party has yet to officially announce the final collated national results, early returns from several states indicate that Atiku is maintaining an overall lead as the exercise continues across the country.
