Justice A.I. Akobi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Kubwa, Abuja, has fixed June 15, 2026, for judgment in the case involving alleged impersonation of officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and extortion against Salifu Olije Mustapha.
At Monday’s proceedings, the EFCC presented its first prosecution witness, Stanley Ujilibo, who testified against the defendant.
Ujilibo, an investigator with the commission, told the court that the EFCC received intelligence indicating that the defendant and two other suspects, identified as Haruna Mamuda Adamu and Abubakar Umar Hamisu, allegedly posed as EFCC operatives and extorted money from unsuspecting youths around Sherif Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja.
According to the witness, the suspects allegedly wore fake EFCC operational uniforms and carried out their activities using a Toyota Corolla belonging to the defendant.

He further disclosed that the defendant’s share of the proceeds from the alleged criminal activities was usually paid into his account with Moniepoint Microfinance Bank.
The witness stated that investigators subsequently obtained the defendant’s account statement, account opening package and identification documents from the financial institution as part of the investigation.
During the proceedings, prosecution counsel, R.U. Adagba, tendered several documents and video evidence allegedly recorded by eyewitnesses during one of the incidents.
The court admitted the materials as evidence and marked them as Exhibits A to D.
Counsel to the defendant, John Ainetor, requested a short adjournment to enable him to review the evidence presented and cross-examine the witness.
Mustapha is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a four-count charge bordering on criminal impersonation, to which he pleaded guilty upon arraignment.
Justice Akobi subsequently adjourned the matter until June 15, 2026, for continuation of cross-examination and sentencing of the defendant.
