The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has flagged off a three-day free medical outreach in Essien Itiaba community, aimed at providing healthcare services to residents and neighbouring communities.
The programme, which commenced on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, is being held at the Primary Health Centre, Ikot Itie Udung, and is sponsored by sons and daughters of Essien Itiaba in collaboration with The Healing Heart Initiative.
The outreach is led by Mrs Stella Ita, a Senior Nursing Officer based abroad and Founder of the Essien Itiaba Nursing Association (EINA), who said the initiative was driven by her desire to improve healthcare access in rural communities.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Hon. Nyong commended Mrs Ita for what he described as her sacrifice and commitment to improving the well-being of her people through healthcare delivery.
The chairman said the initiative demonstrated strong community spirit and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to support individuals and organisations partnering with the government to improve public welfare.
Mrs Ita, in her remarks, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for his support, disclosing that he contributed ₦1 million towards the success of the medical outreach after being informed of the project.
She said the outreach was inspired by the death of her aunt due to a lack of access to adequate healthcare, adding that she remains committed to sustaining the initiative in the years ahead.
The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, HRM Edidem (Prophet) Peter Okon Effiong, and Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Umoh-Andikan both commended the initiative, describing it as a significant act of service to humanity and urged continued community support.

The outreach features services including free medical consultations, optometry services, general healthcare, and other basic medical interventions.
The programme is expected to run until Friday, May 29, 2026, with medical personnel and volunteers drawn from within and outside the community.
