The Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has arrested 10 suspected cultists in separate operations across the state, recovering a locally made pistol, machete, charms, suspected cannabis seeds and other items.
Five suspects were arrested on August 4 at Akpatong Village in Esit Eket Local Government Area, following intelligence on alleged cult-related activities.
Police said a search led to the recovery of the pistol, charms, machete, a POS machine, suspected cannabis sativa seeds and ₦400,000 cash.

In a separate operation, five other suspects were arrested after police responded to a distress call over an alleged cult gathering and sporadic shooting at a guest house.
The Command said the suspects fled on sighting the police, but five were apprehended. A Mercedes-Benz C300 with visible bullet damage, a knife, cult-branded face caps and other items were recovered.
Police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as De Norsemen Klan.
Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives and vowed that the Command would intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks and combat cultism and violent crime across the state.
