TINUBU SENDS 32 NEW AMBASSADORIAL NOMINEES TO SENATE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a new list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation, expanding Nigeria’s upcoming diplomatic reshuffle.

The list, sent in two separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, includes 15 career diplomats and 17 non-career nominees.

This latest batch comes barely a week after the President submitted the first set of three nominees currently being considered for postings to the United Kingdom, United States or France.

Among the non-career nominees are several high-profile figures, including:
•Former INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu
•Former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
•Former Presidential aide, Barr. Ogbonnaya Kalu
•Social commentator, Reno Omokri
•Former Lagos Deputy Governor, Otu Ma Femi Pedro
•Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode
•Former Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu
•Senator Jimoh Ibrahim
•Former First Ladies of Ekiti and Oyo, Angela Adebayo and Florence Ajimobi

The list also features former public officials, ex-lawmakers, diplomats, and political leaders from across the country.

The career nominees include Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu (Abia), Yakubu Nyaku Danladi (Taraba), Miamuna Ibrahim Besto (Adamawa), Musa Abubakar (Kebbi), and Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim (Ogun), among others.

If confirmed, the nominees will be deployed to countries with which Nigeria maintains key bilateral relationships, such as China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the UAE, Qatar, South Africa, and Kenya, as well as multilateral missions, including the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union.

The Presidency noted that the specific postings will be announced after Senate confirmation.

More Nominations Expected
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said more ambassadorial nominations will be forwarded to the Senate soon.
