An aspirant for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mahmud Sadis Buba, has withdrawn from the race amid controversy over his age.
Buba, who has drawn public attention due to reports questioning his eligibility, announced his withdrawal in a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC.

The aspirant said his decision followed reconciliation efforts and consultations initiated by party leaders and stakeholders.
Controversy had trailed his emergence after reports claimed he was born in August 2010, a development that would place him below the constitutional age requirement for membership of the House of Representatives in Nigeria.
Under the Nigerian Constitution, candidates seeking election into the House of Representatives must be at least 25 years old.
Although the APC aspirant did not directly address the age controversy in his withdrawal letter, he stated that his decision was taken in the interest of party unity and harmony.

The development comes as political parties across the country continue preparations and screening processes ahead of future elections.
