The German Mission in Nigeria has warned Nigerians applying for visas against paying agents to secure appointment slots or sending application documents to the consulate by email.
The mission issued the warning on Wednesday while clarifying procedures for Nigerians seeking German visas.
It advised prospective applicants to first determine the appropriate visa category and confirm whether their applications should be processed in Abuja or Lagos.
Applicants were urged to use the official online appointment, registration or visa portal applicable to their category and carefully follow the instructions provided during the application process.
The mission stressed that booking a visa appointment is free and that applicants do not need to pay agents or intermediaries to obtain appointment slots.
It also warned applicants against sending visa application documents directly to the consulate by email unless specifically instructed to do so through an official process.
Applicants were advised to prepare all documents required for their respective visa categories and appear in person for submission where required.
The mission urged Nigerians seeking visas to rely on information provided through its official channels rather than third parties claiming they can facilitate appointments.
It said following the appropriate application procedure would help applicants avoid misinformation and unnecessary payments to intermediaries.
