Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has warned members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state against involvement in partisan politics, urging them to demonstrate discipline, integrity and commitment throughout their service year.
The governor gave the warning during the closing ceremony and terminal parade of the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.
Represented by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, Aiyedatiwa reminded the corps members that their behaviour would reflect on their families, educational institutions and the NYSC scheme.

He urged them to accept their postings in good faith and approach their assignments with dedication, professionalism and respect for their host communities.
According to the governor, the service year presents an opportunity for young graduates to contribute meaningfully to national development while acquiring valuable professional and personal experience.
Aiyedatiwa also appealed to employers and heads of establishments to provide corps members with conducive working environments, proper supervision and opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills.
He explained that effective mentorship would help the graduates develop their abilities and prepare them for future responsibilities.
The governor further called on local government authorities, traditional rulers and community leaders to support corps members and facilitate their integration into their host communities.
He stressed that cooperation from community stakeholders would strengthen the implementation of Community Development Service projects designed to address local needs.
Aiyedatiwa encouraged the corps members to respect local customs and cultural values, maintain positive relationships with residents and conduct themselves in ways that would earn public confidence.

On security, the governor assured them that his administration would continue collaborating with relevant agencies and stakeholders to provide a safer environment throughout their service year.
He advised them to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary late-night movements and exercise caution when travelling to unfamiliar or isolated locations.
The governor also warned against accepting unsolicited rides from strangers and urged corps members to report suspicious activities or security threats to the appropriate authorities.
He cautioned them against drug abuse, cybercrime, fraud and other unlawful activities capable of damaging their reputations and jeopardising their future.
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, urging them to make their service year productive through responsible conduct and meaningful contributions to their host communities.
