The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun West Senatorial District has inaugurated a 100-member Election Monitoring and Mobilisation Committee to prevent rigging and secure victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election.
The inauguration, presided over by the party’s senatorial candidate for Osun West, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, alongside the district chairman, Akintola Omolaoye, was held in Ile-Ogbo town, Ayedire Local Government Area, yesterday.
Addressing the committee members, Dr Ogunbiyi stressed the team’s strategic importance in ensuring transparency and credibility in the electoral process.
“In Nigeria, when election results are declared, litigation often follows. There is always a need for clear documentary evidence when you go to court,” Ogunbiyi said.
He explained that the committee members, drawn from 10 local governments in the district, each with 10 representatives, were well-educated and familiar with the dynamics of electioneering.
According to him, the committee will oversee the election process from the distribution of materials at the local government level down to polling units. It will also establish a situation room for the senatorial district, ensure prompt reporting of irregularities, and document the entire process from secretariats to collation centres.
“These people in Osun West are tasked with ensuring that all necessary evidence is provided. That is why we set up this monitoring committee,” he added.
Speaking at the event, Akintola Omolaoye expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to deliver victory for the APC, noting that the district’s mobilisation efforts had already achieved 80 per cent success.
“We believe that by the time we mobilise and work conscientiously towards winning this forthcoming election, other elections are already 80 per cent won. We don’t want to leave any stone unturned, and that is why we set up this committee today,” Omolaoye said.
He further advised committee members to maintain peace during the election, protect party members from intimidation, and ensure that victory is achieved through grassroots support.
He cautioned against violence, emphasising that success must come through the people’s votes.
