Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has formally launched his campaign for the 2027 presidential election in Bauchi State, calling for reforms to address economic hardship, insecurity and political exclusion.
Speaking at the campaign flag-off on Saturday, Makinde urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the country’s current situation to support his proposed Reset Nigeria Agenda.
He identified hunger, insecurity, inadequate inclusion in governance and declining public confidence as major challenges requiring urgent attention.
The governor said his campaign would focus on economic reforms, improved security, accountable leadership and a political system that provides opportunities for Nigerians regardless of their backgrounds.
Addressing supporters, Makinde also urged voters to make independent electoral decisions rather than allowing financial inducements to determine their choices.
He maintained that citizens should vote according to their convictions and assess candidates based on their capacity to address national challenges.

Bauchi State Governor and APM national leader, Bala Mohammed, expressed support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, urging him to prioritise justice, equity and national unity.
Mohammed stressed the importance of respecting the federal character principle in public appointments while ensuring that competence and merit remain central considerations.
He argued that appointments should reflect Nigeria’s ethnic and religious diversity rather than favour particular sections of the country.
The APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to expanding women’s participation in politics.
He said the party had established a directorate dedicated to women’s affairs to encourage greater representation in political activities.
Similarly, the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, criticised what he described as dishonesty and hypocrisy in Nigerian politics.
Daura said the Reset Agenda would promote transparency, accountability and inclusive governance if the party secured victory.
Makinde’s presidential campaign follows a political alliance involving his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party and the APM.

The party had earlier announced plans to begin its nationwide campaign in Bauchi before extending its activities to other states.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled Nigeria’s presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027.
The Bauchi event marks the formal commencement of Makinde’s nationwide campaign as political parties intensify preparations for the election.
