National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has revealed that prominent activist Aisha Yesufu was offered an opportunity to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives but chose not to accept it.

Dickson disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Abuja, amid ongoing internal disagreements and political tensions within the NDC.

According to the former Bayelsa State governor, the offer was jointly extended by him and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. He noted that despite the high level of competition for legislative positions across the country, Yesufu declined the opportunity.

His remarks come shortly after Yesufu publicly criticised Dickson on social media. In a post shared on her verified X account on Thursday, the activist suggested that the NDC leader appeared to be engaging in a political battle that, in her view, did not exist.

Responding to the situation, Dickson cited the rejected House of Representatives ticket as an example of the opportunities that had been made available to Yesufu, stating that she considered the position unsuitable for her aspirations.
