Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Akwa Ibom State Command, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have reaffirmed their commitment to stronger collaboration aimed at ensuring credible and peaceful elections in the state.

This formed part of discussions on Thursday when the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Akwa Ibom paid a courtesy visit to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Prof. Anugbum Onuoha, at the INEC State Office in Uyo.

During the meeting, both agencies emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process, strengthening security and improving electoral service delivery.

The Immigration Comptroller assured INEC of the command’s support and readiness to work closely with the commission in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

Responding, the Resident Electoral Commissioner appreciated the visit and reiterated INEC’s commitment to sustaining productive partnerships with security and government agencies to promote transparency and boost public confidence in elections.
