The Obidient Movement Worldwide has reaffirmed its unwavering support for former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, following his recent exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that attempts to weaken his political standing have instead boosted his popularity ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement shared on Sunday, the movement’s Interim National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, said Obi’s influence continues to expand across the country despite what he described as sustained efforts to frustrate his political ambitions.

Tanko noted that the movement remains firmly committed to Obi’s political future, pointing to growing grassroots mobilisation nationwide. He cited the emergence of new support structures, including the “Peter Obi 4 President Movement,” reportedly active in 19 northern states, as evidence of increasing national appeal.

“We stand with Peter Obi,” Tanko said, adding that every attempt to block his presidential ambition has only strengthened his popularity. He reiterated the group’s commitment to political reform and national renewal, maintaining confidence in what he described as a vision for a “New Nigeria.”

The renewed endorsement comes amid shifting political alignments following Obi’s resignation from the ADC earlier on Sunday. The former Labour Party presidential candidate cited internal crises within the party and a worsening national political environment as reasons for his decision.

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, said his move was driven by concerns over persistent internal conflicts, legal disputes, and what he described as a toxic political system that undermines effective governance.

Despite his departure from the ADC, Obi maintained that his political focus remains on national development rather than personal ambition, stressing his commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of Nigerians.
