The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its National Campaign Council and several sub-committees ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State, appointing Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as chairman of the campaign council.
The party said the move is aimed at strengthening its campaign structure and mobilising support for its candidate in the forthcoming poll.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, who said the composition of the council was approved in a notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
According to the statement, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, will serve as co-chairmen of the campaign council. The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, was named deputy chairman, while Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will serve as secretary.
The APC said the council comprises governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, and other party stakeholders from across the country.
It also announced the establishment of specialised sub-committees to oversee critical aspects of the campaign, including election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement, logistics, media and publicity, security, youth and women mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, monitoring and compliance, protocol, and secretariat functions.
The party said the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja, ahead of the Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15.
