The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress National Campaign Council for the Osun State governorship election, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, has charged members of the council to focus on securing victory for the party in the August 15 poll.
Uzodinma gave the charge on Monday at a meeting of the APC campaign council held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
He described the assignment as a serious political responsibility, stressing that members of the council must prioritise the campaign and avoid treating the meeting as a social gathering.
According to him, the council’s primary objective is to mobilise support and deliver victory for the APC in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Uzodinma directed all subcommittees of the campaign council to reconvene immediately and submit their proposals and recommendations before Thursday.
He said every member of the council had been assigned to a subcommittee and was expected to contribute practical ideas towards strengthening the party’s campaign strategy.
“We have directed all the subcommittees to meet immediately and submit their ideas and proposals before Thursday. Every member of this council belongs to a subcommittee and has a role to play in ensuring our success in the August 15 governorship election,” he said.
The governor further directed chairmen of the various subcommittees to submit their resolutions and proposals to the council’s National Secretary.
He assured the committees that the Central Working Committee would provide the necessary support to enable them to execute their responsibilities effectively.
Uzodinma urged members to remain focused on the task ahead, stressing that other considerations should take a back seat until after the election.
“We have only one mission, to win the election. Everything can come after the elections,” he declared.
Meanwhile, the Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, with the APC seeking to wrest control of the state from the incumbent administration.
