President Donald Trump said in a social media post that Iranian authorities have halted the planned execution of eight women protesters, crediting his intervention for the decision.

In a statement published on his official account, Trump said he had been informed that the women, who were reportedly facing execution in Iran, would no longer be put to death.

According to his account, four of the detainees are expected to be released immediately, while the remaining four will instead receive one-month prison sentences.

“I very much appreciate that Iran, and its leaders, respected my request… and terminated the planned execution,” Trump wrote, framing the development as a positive outcome tied to ongoing or anticipated negotiations between his representatives and Iranian officials.

The post also referenced a prior message in which Trump appealed directly to Iranian leadership to spare the women, describing such a move as “a great start” to future talks.

As of now, there has been no independent confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding the status of the detainees or any change in sentencing. Officials in Tehran have not publicly acknowledged Trump’s claims or indicated that negotiations are underway.

Human rights organisations have long criticised Iran’s use of capital punishment, particularly in cases involving political dissent and protest activity. However, without verification from third-party sources, details surrounding the reported case remain unclear.
