The British Army has outlined the requirements and steps foreigners, including Nigerians, must meet before applying to join the service.
According to the Army, prospective applicants are assessed based on factors including age, nationality, health, physical fitness, education and qualifications.
Applicants are expected to first confirm that they meet the Army’s basic entry requirements. While formal educational qualifications are not required for every role, an applicant’s academic background may determine the positions available to them.
Prospective recruits must decide whether to apply as soldiers or officers. Those uncertain about the appropriate route can use the Army’s entry options tool for guidance.
Applicants are also expected to identify roles that match their interests, skills and qualifications, with the Army offering a wide range of career options.
Foreign applicants who are eligible can choose between full-time service and part-time service with the Army Reserve.
The Reserve allows members to serve alongside full-time personnel while maintaining other commitments.
People with professional skills in areas such as medicine and engineering may also find specialist opportunities, particularly within the Army Reserve.
Once an applicant has selected a suitable role and service option, they can begin the recruitment process by submitting an online application and providing the required personal and qualification details.
After submission, a recruiter or Candidate Support Manager guides applicants through the subsequent stages of recruitment and explains the requirements they must fulfil before enlistment.
