Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa, has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Bolarinwa appealed in a statement released at the weekend, arguing that continuity would allow the administration to consolidate its economic reforms and other policies.
He urged voters to carefully assess candidates seeking the presidency rather than base their decisions on political rhetoric, emotions or campaign propaganda.
According to him, the 2027 election represents an important decision about Nigeria’s future direction and should be approached by examining the character, integrity, competence, experience and policy proposals of the candidates.
“Every opposition candidate who seeks to lead Nigeria must be subjected to the same rigorous test: character, integrity, competence, experience, verifiable track record, and a clear, workable plan for Nigeria,” Bolarinwa said.

The former Kwara State chairman of the All Progressives Congress argued that Tinubu deserved another term to consolidate the policies introduced by his administration.
Bolarinwa acknowledged that some of the Federal Government’s economic reforms had imposed hardship on Nigerians but maintained that the measures were intended to address long-standing structural problems in the economy.
He cited the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system among reforms he believes require more time to produce their intended results.
According to him, major economic reforms do not produce results immediately and abandoning the current policy direction could disrupt their implementation.
“What Nigeria needs today is not another political experiment, but consolidation. We must allow the seeds already planted to be harvested,” he said.

Bolarinwa also questioned the alternatives being offered by opposition parties ahead of the election, arguing that Tinubu had the experience and political capacity required to continue leading the country.
His comments represent his political assessment and campaign position ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Nigerian voters will ultimately decide among the candidates presented by political parties when the election is held.
