SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk has said the company plans to rename its artificial intelligence unit, SpaceXAI, to SpaceXSI, reflecting a shift toward the term “super intelligence.”
Musk confirmed the proposed change on Sunday while responding to a user on X who asked whether SpaceXAI would adopt the new name.
“Yes, we will make that change,” Musk replied.
The announcement follows a recent push by United States President Donald Trump for the term “super intelligence” to be used instead of “artificial intelligence.”
During an address to the United Nations General Assembly in September, Trump said his administration would begin using “super intelligence” in US government documents and expressed hope that the terminology would gain wider international acceptance.

Musk did not provide a timetable for implementing the SpaceXSI name or disclose whether the change would involve a broader restructuring of the AI operation.
As of the announcement, SpaceXAI’s account on X had also not been renamed.
The development comes as SpaceX continues to expand beyond its traditional spaceflight and satellite operations into artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.
The proposed SpaceXSI name would therefore mark a branding change for the company’s AI operation, although further details on when the new identity will formally take effect have yet to be announced.
