The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has claimed that major opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Accord Party, are supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda made the claim on Tuesday, October 20, while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja after meeting with President Tinubu alongside the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.
The meeting focused on preparations for the ruling party’s nationwide presidential campaign, scheduled to be formally launched in Kaduna State on Saturday, October 24.
According to the APC chairman, political figures from parties that previously contested and won elections against the ruling party have aligned themselves with Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He described the development as evidence of expanding political cooperation across party lines.
Yilwatda maintained that preparations for the Kaduna campaign launch had been completed, with party structures, campaign committees and state coordinators mobilised for the exercise.
However, he did not clarify whether the claimed support represented formal endorsements by the national leaderships of all three opposition parties or political arrangements involving individual members and factions.

The announcement comes amid divisions within the PDP over the cross-party coalition promoted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
While Wike and his supporters have openly declared their support for Tinubu’s re-election, a rival PDP faction led by Tanimu Turaki has rejected any alliance with the APC.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, insisted that opposition parties should provide alternatives to the ruling government rather than support its continuation.
Meanwhile, APGA’s national leadership had previously indicated its intention to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition, while Accord’s presidential candidate, Christopher Imumolen, announced his withdrawal from the race and endorsed the President in August.
Speaking on the APC’s campaign strategy, Yari promised that the ruling party would focus on government policies, programmes and achievements rather than personal attacks against opposition candidates.
The former Zamfara State governor said the campaign council intended to present the administration’s record to Nigerians as the basis for seeking another mandate.
Yari explained that the campaign would provide an opportunity to engage voters across the country and outline the government’s case for continuity.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council was inaugurated on October 14, with Tinubu serving as chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima and Yilwatda as vice chairmen.
Yari is responsible for coordinating its campaign activities as Director-General.
With the Kaduna launch approaching, attention is expected to focus on the extent of the cross-party support claimed by the APC and the responses of opposition parties ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
