Merseyside Police have confirmed the arrest of 10 people following disturbances surrounding Liverpool’s Premier League encounter with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
A police officer also sustained serious facial injuries during an arrest operation outside the stadium as supporters were leaving after the match.
According to the police, the arrests were connected to suspected offences including assault, affray, tragedy chanting, drunken disorder and throwing objects onto the pitch.

One suspect was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting a police officer, while five others were detained over alleged tragedy chanting.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of affray, another over allegations involving drunkenness and assault, and one for allegedly throwing objects onto the playing surface.
Police said the injured officer was attacked at approximately 6:35 p.m. on Anfield Road while officers were attempting to arrest a man.
The officer received hospital treatment and was subsequently discharged to recover at home.
Chief Inspector Leanne Hobin condemned the reported incidents of tragedy chanting, describing the practice as deeply distressing to families and others affected by past football disasters.
She warned that such behaviour would not be tolerated and said police would continue collaborating with football clubs to identify individuals involved in criminal conduct.
The disturbances occurred during a tense encounter between the two Premier League rivals, with sections of the home crowd reportedly protesting a decision involving Manchester City’s alleged breaches of the league’s financial regulations.
Manchester City have challenged the decision through an appeal.
On the pitch, City secured a 3-0 victory over Liverpool after a goalless first half.
Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the 62nd minute after receiving a second yellow card.
Erling Haaland subsequently broke the deadlock in the 65th minute before Jeremy Doku doubled City’s advantage three minutes later.

Rayan Cherki added a third goal in the 78th minute to complete the victory.
The result marked Manchester City’s sixth consecutive Premier League win of the season.
Police investigations into the incidents surrounding the match remain ongoing, while the allegations against those arrested have yet to be determined by a court.
