The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has indefinitely suspended assistant referee Aliyu Yakubu Bana following a controversial offside decision during the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash between Doma United and Enyimba.
Bana served as Assistant Referee 1 in the Matchday 3 fixture, which Doma United won 2-0 on Saturday.
In a letter signed by Mohammed Ameenu, Secretary of the NFF Referee Development Committee, on Sunday, September 13, the federation said the official failed to correctly apply the offside guidelines.

According to the NFF, Bana did not adhere to the required “wait-and-see protocol”, resulting in the cancellation of what it described as a valid Enyimba goal.
The federation said the officiating error had an impact on the outcome of the match.
Consequently, Bana has been removed from the roster of referees and assistant referees for the 2026/27 NPFL season.
