Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dissolved the Ekiti State Executive Council ahead of his inauguration for a second term, retaining three senior government officials.
The dissolution was announced following a valedictory meeting with members of the outgoing cabinet at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti.
The meeting marked the formal conclusion of the cabinet’s responsibilities as the administration prepares for another four-year tenure.

Speaking during the session, Oyebanji thanked the outgoing commissioners and other council members for their contributions to the implementation of government policies and development programmes during his first term.
He described the cabinet as a committed team whose cooperation had supported the administration’s activities across various sectors.
The governor also assured the departing officials that the dissolution would not prevent continued engagement with them.
However, three officials were exempted from the dissolution.
They are the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habibat Adubiaro; the Chief of Staff, Oyeniyi Adebayo; and the Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.
The three officials will retain their respective positions as the governor prepares to commence his second term.

In separate remarks, members of the outgoing cabinet expressed appreciation to Oyebanji for the opportunity to serve the state and contribute to his administration.
The valedictory session also featured a ceremonial cake-cutting to mark the conclusion of the cabinet’s tenure.
Oyebanji, who secured re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, is scheduled to take the oath of office for his second term on Friday, October 16, 2026.
The dissolution comes as preparations continue for the inauguration and the expected constitution of a new State Executive Council.
