World leaders and international organisations have reportedly condemned an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, amid renewed concerns over escalating hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi movement.
Reports attributed to Saudi authorities indicate that at least 12 people were killed and about 300 others injured in Saturday’s incident.
The reported fatalities included Saudi nationals and foreign citizens, raising concerns about the safety of international travellers and civilian infrastructure.
Saudi authorities have blamed Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the attack. However, responsibility for the incident and the full casualty figures require independent confirmation.
United States President Donald Trump reportedly condemned the incident and indicated that Washington would consult Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the security situation.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also reported to have expressed condolences to the victims’ families following reports that an American citizen was among those killed.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reportedly condemned the attack, reiterating the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts.
The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, was also reported to have warned that attacks on civilian airports could worsen regional tensions and undermine diplomatic efforts to resolve Yemen’s prolonged conflict.
Statements attributed to Canada, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Jordan, Oman, Palestine and Japan expressed concern over the incident and emphasised the importance of civilian safety and regional stability.
Some governments reportedly reaffirmed their solidarity with Saudi Arabia, while others stressed the need for restraint and diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
King Khalid International Airport is a major aviation hub serving Riyadh and connecting Saudi Arabia with international destinations.

Any sustained disruption to its operations could affect passenger movement, airline schedules and regional aviation services.
The reported incident comes amid tensions involving the Houthis, Saudi Arabia and other regional actors, with renewed concerns about the consequences of further military escalation.
Independent confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the attack, the final casualty figures and the statements attributed to international leaders remains necessary.
