BAUCHI LAWMAKER WANZAM ZAKI DIES

A member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Sakwa Constituency, Hon. Mohammad Wanzam Zaki, is dead.

The lawmaker, who also served as Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday in Bauchi after a brief illness.

His death was announced by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sulaiman, in a statement issued through his spokesman, Mukhtar Garba Kobi.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss, the Speaker described the deceased as a dedicated public servant who served his constituency and Bauchi State with commitment and distinction.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Sakwa Constituency, Hon. Mohammad Wanzam,” the statement read.

The funeral prayer for the late lawmaker was held on Sunday at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi, attended by family members, political associates, government officials and sympathisers.

The Speaker prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has also mourned the lawmaker, describing his death as a significant loss to the state.

In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor described Wanzam as a humble leader, committed legislator and devoted public servant whose life was marked by dedication to the welfare of his constituents and the development of Bauchi State.

Governor Mohammed noted that the deceased distinguished himself through diligence, maturity and patriotism, particularly in his role as Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation.

He commended the late lawmaker’s contributions to legislative oversight and policy formulation aimed at improving governance and the quality of life of the people.

“His death is a great loss not only to his family and constituents but also to the entire Bauchi State. We have lost a dependable legislator, a bridge-builder and a man whose humility and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike,” the governor stated.

The governor urged residents of the state to take solace in the enduring legacy of service, selflessness and commitment left behind by the deceased.

He also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late lawmaker and for the fortitude for his family, constituents and colleagues to bear the loss.
