A woman identified as Oluchi has been found in a hotel in Delta State after allegedly faking her own abduction and demanding a ₦50 million ransom from her family.
The case, which sparked public sympathy and fundraising efforts, took a dramatic turn after police investigations traced her to a hotel where she was reportedly staying with her lover.
According to reports, Oluchi’s family had informed the police that she was kidnapped in the Ikpoba Hill area of Edo State.

Her children, including a daughter based in Canada, had appealed to the public for financial assistance, while the supposed kidnappers later reduced their ransom demand to ₦20 million.
Police investigations reportedly tracked a phone number linked to the case to a hotel in Ubiaroko, Delta State, where officers found Oluchi and the man allegedly involved. Authorities informed her husband of the discovery, bringing an end to the purported kidnap saga.
Reacting to the development, Oluchi’s daughter, Anita, expressed shock and disappointment, saying the incident had deeply affected the family. She stated that no ransom was paid and that any funds raised would be refunded, adding that the family would allow the law to take its course.
A social group that had supported efforts to secure Oluchi’s release also distanced itself from the incident, describing the alleged staged abduction as a betrayal of the goodwill and assistance offered during what members believed was a genuine crisis.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and disclosed that four persons had been arrested in connection with the case. Investigations are ongoing.
