The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned two brothers, Cypril Nwalaezi and Smart Chinedu Nwalaezi, before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt over alleged land fraud involving ₦3.2 million.

The defendants were arraigned on a five-count amended charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence. The EFCC alleged that they fraudulently sold parcels of land in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State to a buyer despite lacking valid title to the properties.

The two defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice S. D. Pam granted them bail on separate conditions and ordered their remand at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of the bail terms.

The case was adjourned until September 17, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
