The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Governors Charles Soludo of Anambra State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State attended Wednesday’s inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja.

Their participation attracted attention because of their political affiliations outside the ruling party, reflecting the APC’s efforts to involve political figures beyond its membership in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The three politicians were included in the campaign council’s coordination structure announced on Tuesday, with responsibilities covering Rivers State, the Federal Capital Territory, Anambra and Osun states.

The inauguration, held at the State Banquet Hall in Abuja, brought together President Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, governors, federal lawmakers and other political stakeholders.

Speaking during the ceremony, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the party as having an extensive organisational network across the country.

Yilwatda claimed that the APC had more than 261,000 executives operating at the national, state, local government and ward levels.

He also stated that the ruling party had 31 governors and was receiving political support from figures associated with other parties, including Accord in the South-West and the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the South-East.

The APC chairman praised Tinubu’s administration, arguing that its policies and infrastructure programmes had delivered significant achievements during its first three years.

The involvement of politicians from different party backgrounds highlights the campaign council’s broader coalition approach ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

However, participation in the campaign structure does not, by itself, establish that the politicians involved have formally joined the APC.

The inauguration marks another stage in the ruling party’s preparations for the election, with the council expected to coordinate campaign activities and political engagement across the federation.
