The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused the governors of Imo and Kwara states, Hope Uzodinma and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, of working against him despite the political support he said he had offered them in the past.
Wike made the allegations during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.
Rismadarvoice reporter gathered that the minister singled out Abdulrazaq, alleging that the Kwara governor had been leading a campaign against him. Wike said he had personally confronted the governor over the issue.
“Take for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” he said.
Wike also accused the Kwara governor of alleging that he was sponsoring candidates against his preferred choices in the state. He argued that Abdulrazaq should instead appreciate his decision to provide a political platform for aggrieved APC figures who joined the Peoples Democratic Party rather than align with the opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu.
On Uzodinma, Wike recalled what he described as a strained political relationship, saying the Imo governor was aware of the support he had extended to him.
Despite the disagreements, Wike said his priority remains securing President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, insisting that personal political disputes would not distract him from that objective.
“I have never hidden my intention,” Wike said, challenging those who accuse him of working against APC governors to identify what support they had given him in his own political battles.
