A leading aspirant for the Etinan State Constituency seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Imo Mmenim Valentine, has formally consulted the Etinan Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring her intention to contest the 2027 election.

The consultation, which held on Tuesday, April 21, 2027, at the APC party office in Etinan Town, brought together party executives, stakeholders, and supporters.

Addressing party members, Mrs. Valentine announced her ambition to represent Etinan State Constituency in the state legislature under the APC platform, citing her experience in grassroots mobilisation and political engagement.

She noted her previous involvement in political campaigns across different levels, including support roles for prominent political figures, and expressed confidence in her ability to effectively represent her constituency.

According to her, her aspiration is driven by a desire to promote inclusive governance and strengthen women’s participation in politics, advocating for greater implementation of the 35 percent affirmative action for women in elective and appointive positions.

“I am committed to serving with a motherly heart, ensuring that the voices of our people are well represented at the state assembly,” she said.

Mrs. Valentine was accompanied by her husband, Mr. Mmenim Valentine Umoren, during the visit. The delegation also presented financial support to the party, alongside items including a cow, drinks, and yams.

In his response, the APC Etinan Chapter Chairman, Comrade Israel Tommy, commended the aspirant for her gesture and assured her of fair consideration within the party structure.

He described her visit as a sign of respect for the party, adding that internal democracy would guide the selection process.

“I want to assure you of our support within the party framework. Politics is dynamic, and we remain committed to fairness and justice,” he said.

Also speaking, former councillor of Etinan Urban 2, Hon. Uduak Sunday, expressed confidence in Mrs. Valentine’s capacity, describing her as a credible aspirant capable of delivering effective representation if elected.

He urged the party leadership to consider her for adoption as the party’s candidate for the 2027 race.

Similarly, Obong Anwan Patience Anako called on party members to support and promote her aspiration, stressing the importance of increased female representation in governance.

The visit concluded with a prayer session led by party leaders, seeking guidance and success for the aspirant’s political journey.
